So I want to order the ingredients for my next (2nd) batch tomorrow and I am torn between two options I have. They are both recipes I have found and adjusted, and both will be fermented with kviek voss because of fermentation temps. The first is an APA and the second is an American IPA. Which would be your choice?

Why choose? Just do them both in order.
I'd do #1 first – it's the simpler of the two because of the dry hopping in #2 – and then #2. You're going to need a recipe for Batch #3 after you finished Batch #2 anyway 😉

Just be careful with the oats if you brew in a Brewzilla or similar apparatus. Oats and other flaked fermentables tend to clog the malt tube filter. Adding two handfulls of rice hulls can prevent that. However, 140 grams of flaked oats should not be too difficult. Make sure the Flaked Oats are ordered torrefied, though, or heat them properly prior to adding them to the mash; otherwise you won't extract anything from them.

Haha I will definitely make both, but I was set on no.1 up until today, but I was reading up on mosaic and then the decision wasn't as easy😂 my plan is one 5gal batch a month for now.

I was planning on using instant oats? I read that will work fine. Otherwise I can get torrefied oats if necessary. Not a Brewzilla, standard 10gal pot/BIAB setup.

i'm not sure if i'm the biggest fan of 100% base malt ales.....make great lagers, but kinda simple for an ale.....maybe adjust #2 to have a touch of carmel malt in it...

I ended up going with the APA just because the only mosaic I could get was from 2019. I changed the flameout hops to 30g for a bit more flavour/aroma.

Hops harvest time typically is between mid-August and end September. Not surprising you can only get US hops from 2019; most of the 2020 harvest is still out on the fields...
What would be surprising is if your Cascade for your APA is from 2020 – it'd be either a very, very early harvest, home-grown or a lie..

2019 hops are still good to use. Especially pellets are.

That's good info, thanks!

So have tweaked the hops again on no. 1... Any advice? I have already ordered 100g of cascade, im just messing around with where to put them.
