Hey Folks, first shot at a recipe created from scratch. I was wondering if those more experienced would critique it. Again, it is my first attempt for an Amber Ale.

Grain Bill

11 # American 2-Row
1.5 # Victory Malt
.5 # CaraMunich
.5 # Crystal 20-40 L

Hop Schedule

1 oz Columbus 60 min
.5 Willamette 30 min
.5 Willamette 5 min

Not sure if it helps or not, but I plugged your numbers into Beer Smith and here is what it spit back:

Beer Profile

Est Original Gravity: 1.073 SG
Measured Original Gravity: 1.073 SG
Est Final Gravity: 1.017 SG
Estimated Alcohol by Vol: 7.24 %
Bitterness: 26.8 IBU
Calories: 332 cal/pint
Est Color: 11.4 SRM

The only thing I'm showing out of range for an American Amber is the OG. It shows 1.045-1.056 for the range. If you drop the Pale Malt down to 8#, it shows the estimated OG right at 1.056 and the IBUs jump to 35.2 (range of 20-40). The color only drops to 11 (range 11-18). The calories drop to 250.

If you go with the Crystal 40L, the color jumps to 11.8. I just used Nottingham for the yeast.

Thanks Iron City. Anyone else? Im mainly wondering about the amount of Victory malt and whether or not the Caramunich is necessary. Any help is appreciated!
