So I went to San Francisco Beer Week and Sierra Nevada did a tap take over of the bar I was at. I got a chance to speak to one of the brewers and he ended up giving me a HUGE ziplock bag full of hops.

At the time I spoke with him I had already been drinking all day so I wasnt exactly all there. What I do remember is that the hops are from Washington and Sierra Nevada just lists the hops by batch number. These hops came from batch "366" so that is what I am calling them. They are 12.2% AA.

I am trying to create an IPA that only uses these hops so that we can really get a sense of what they are like. This is my first time creating a recipe from scratch so please take it easy on me!

Any advice?

I might actually just do a SMASH if I were in your spot with the free hops. Just 10-12lbs two row or Vienna and your same 366 hop schedule. That would really feature the hop character in the brew.

My IPA are usually along the lines of what Topher is saying, mostly 2 row with about 5-6% crystal. You could use crystal or carapils depending on what you want for color.

The other thing that concerns me here is that you have no flameout hops or dryhops listed. I'd do about 1/2oz to 1oz at flameout and another oz dry hop after fermentation is completed.

Thanks for your advice guys. It really helps! I edited the recipe above. Sound better?
