Hi all.
I came up with this Red DIPA last year and finally got around to it. (My first 'own recipe')
I'm hoping it's more of just a red colored IPA than a hoppy red.
Had a bunch of Simcoe I wanted to use, so I did.
Will probably try to make it again (and tweak it if need be).
The following is currently getting crushed by the yeasties in my fermenter.
Boil Size: 4.00 gal
Post Boil Volume: 3.50 gal
Batch Size (fermenter): 5.50 gal
Bottling Volume: 5.25 gal
Estimated OG: 1.078 SG
Estimated FG: 1.014 SG
Estimated ABV: 8.5%
Estimated Color: 13.3 SRM
Estimated IBU: 105.5 IBUs
Boil Time: 60 Minutes
Ingredients:
------------
1 lbs Munich Malt - 10L (10.0 SRM) 8.9 %
6.0 oz Caramel/Crystal Malt - 80L (80.0 SRM) 3.3 %
4.0 oz Caramel/Crystal Malt -120L (120.0 SRM) 2.2 %
2.0 oz Roasted Barley (300.0 SRM) 1.1 %
4 lbs Extra Light Dry Extract (3.0 SRM) 35.6 %
1.00 oz Columbus (Tomahawk) [15.20 %] - Boil 60.0 min 68.1 IBUs
1.00 tsp Irish Moss (Boil 15.0 mins)
1.00 oz Simcoe [13.20 %] - Boil 15.0 min 15.8 IBUs
1.00 oz Simcoe [13.20 %] - Boil 10.0 min 11.8 IBUs
1.00 oz Simcoe [13.20 %] - Boil 5.0 min 9.9 IBUs
1.00 oz Simcoe [13.20 %] - Boil 0.0 min 0.0 IBUs
4 lbs 8.0 oz Extra Light Dry Extract (3.0 SRM) 40.0 %
1 lbs Cane Sugar (0.0 SRM) 8.9 %
1.5 pkg Safale American (DCL/Fermentis #US-05) Yeast
Came in a little high at 1.082....there was a lot of break and hop stuff in my hydro tube, could that be why?
Right now I'm thinking a 7 day dry hop with 1oz Simcoe and 1oz Cascade.
Is that enough? Too much?
I have a bunch more Columbus that I could grab from.
I've got about a week and a half until I chuck 'em in, so....
Thanks for lookin'!
