OK, here's the deal: I have a friend who's the director of a non-profit that does environmental work on Mt. Hood. They're having a party/fundraiser on July 30, and he asked me to brew up a keg of homebrew to donate. My thoughts/constraints:

1. I'd like to feature Mt. Hood hops (for obvious reasons) - though I'll probably use something else like Magnum or maybe Chinook for the 60min bittering addition. Has anyone bittered with Mt. Hood before?
2. It needs to be ready to drink by July 30 - I'll probably brew this Thursday or Friday, which gives me a month. Should be doable as long as I don't go too big.
3. There will be a few kegs of commercial craft brew available for the masses, so mine can be a bit more out of the ordinary. Want to keep it fairly light/summery since it will be an outdoor gathering.

So here's what I have so far - I'm thinking of a red rye ale (I've used rye a few times, and done plenty of reds, but never combined the two); figuring the floral/spicy Mt. Hood (related to Hallertauer) will go well with the rye. OG in the 105X range. Maybe WY1450-Denny's Favorite for the yeast, since this looks like something kinda in between his Wry Smile IPA and Waldo Lake Amber, which both feature that strain. Any input/constructive criticism? Maybe I should sub CaraRed for the Caramel 60? More/less rye? Tweak the hop additions, maybe dry hop as well?
