I was wondering what a good ratio of water to grain would be? I am brewing a pale ale with 12 pounds of grain. I am just wondering how much water I should use in my mash tun with the grain to be able to brew a five gallon batch.

Thanks!!

Anywhere from 1.25-2.0 quarts of water per pound of grain is a good rule of thumb. I'd start lower, at 1.25-1.5, just in case your temperature is too low and you need to add some more water.
