Anyone go last night? Wondering how Becoming tasted?

Going to stop in later on for a taste of that and Home, Sour, Home while I grab my bottles.

Why would they drop the price?
Didn't they do that on HSH? It was a $30 Founders release, now it's a $25 general release. They didn't drop Ensorcelled though.

I understand it's to justify the cost of membership, but it'd be nice if extras were marked down a bit.

HSH was dropped because it's no longer a founders beer. Plus I don't think we ever got the right to purchase any of that last year, so it's price never really dropped.

Yes, it was only the 2 included bottles last year.

The implication based on the $300/10 bottle membership is that it is kinda $30/bottle hence all the extras this year being $30.

It was actually very smooth when we got there. The line at the bar wasn;t bad at all. Of course it did get a tad more busy by the time we left but overall, it seemed to flow rather nicely.

When I was there Friday the staff were talking about how they felt it went much better having the open time frame, rather than 2 separate timed events. I think they felt it attracted more people than previous events because it was more flexible. They seemed to think it was the best event that had put on.

I missed/ignored the reminder for the Barrelworks event that sounded really cool. It's nice they have educational events as well, so I'm bummed I missed out.

IMPOSSIBLE SOUL
Ambassadors of Sour Release #4
Red Sour Beer Aged in Oak Barrels with Tart Cherries and Sweet Cherries

Impossible Soul is a golden sour beer aged in oak barrels with tart cherries and sweet cherries. Fermented with Saccharomyces, Brettanomyces, Lactobacillus and some other special microorganisms, this blend displays notes of cherry preserves with hints of lemony tartness. At the heart of this beer lies an Impossible Soul: seductively tart, yet timidly sweet.

I've been waiting for a kriek-esque beer for awhile from them. They tend to be hard to **** up, so my expectations are for something comparable to Sans Pagaie.

"Ambassadors of Sour are able to purchase (12) additional bottles "

12 * $30 = a lot of $$

They are hyping the hell out of that beer. Kinda interesting that it was going to be a public release and now is an Ambassador release. Of course, the public release probably would have been at a price point lower than $30.

I, too, found that interesting. And sort of a put off. It would have likely been cheaper for the public, which seems odd since we're supposed to be the dedicated patrons... watch when ambassadors don't buy the lot, they sell them to the public for 35. haha

I would have loved to drop $25 on this if it were public, but they figured they could get $30 for it, so they waxed it and made it exclusive. I really hate pricing things higher "just because".

****, it sounds really, really good though. I may have to swallow my pride and get a couple extra. I really ******* wish they would let us try these ******* beers before dropping so much on a bottle too, I have backed out of a lot of purchases this year.

It sounds like there is a lot. I'm going to buy a couple extra and I'll try it at the party and buy more if it is that good.

yeah, seeing as how Rare Barrel trades pretty well, It won't be a bad beer to just have on hands also if people are ISO down the road.

Wait, really? If I'm missing the sarcasm then apologies in advance.

I have a lot of regulars who love rare barrel beers. Rare barrel also continues to be one of the first breweries to kick at a lot of beer festivals. It's got a lot of love that isn't exactly shared with the locals.

I really like Rare Barrel beer, but I also really hate the price.

I could easily buy 12 extra and find willing homes for each bottle of it. A lot of people out there are really appreciative of getting RB beers.
For me, most of my trades (note, I am not a regular trader) center on Sante with Rare Barrel as a not really a bonus, but kind of a secondary addition.
