Only if you have skinny jeans and a pretentious attitude.

Two of my favorite things about watching wrestling with my 8 year old son are is his impersonations and love of getting Dad another beer. He can do HGH-Paul Ryan (Bad News Barret) spot on:

(In character): "I'm afraid I've got some bad news. . . you're all out of Sierra Nevada green Dad,"

Then he gives me the bull hammer and a rear naked choke for good measure.

You *******, won't be at the Rare Barrel ticking that **** from the source? Have you no shame?

When are they going to release a beer that isn't a amber/red/dark sour? Seems like all of the releases have been that way.
Ensorcelled was blonde -- I agree, though. Definitely far more interest in sour ambers/reds/darks than I am thus far.

Apparently this is just their thing. If you want to see more blond/golden fruited sours, say something to them about it.

I totally agree, though, I want to see the Egregious base but with basically every fruit that exists. That would make me really happy.
Nice. Their fruited/adjunct beers are a lot more desirable for me. Still frustrated that this is $30 (similar to Ensorcelled).
Keep in mind that we get two bottles for "free", so the $30 only applies if you buy a third.

I'm not a Founder, in part because I was worried about this issue. Makes it easier to focus my budget on SARA and De Garde.

Glad I didn't pony up for the RB membership. Doesn't seem to mesh well with my tastes (not a fan of dark sours, typically) and their prices make the Bruery look like a bargain. Which is lolz.

How'd the event go on Saturday? Any feedback on the collab?

Event was run well. I showed up close to 3pm, and got the 2nd to last wrist band for 3 bottles. The line for beer pours and bottles was quite long, but we just waited it out, and after 10 mins, my homies and I were double fisting sours. Around 3:30ish, the line dissipated for both bottles and pours, and it was a breeze to get whatever you wanted with not much wait if any. I was unsure if I was even going to buy any at the price, but the beer was simply amazing. Very nice and assertive sourness, cheery and oak are very well present, and the beer finishes bone dry and leaves you wanting another pour. I ended up buying my 3 bottles, and my friends ended up only buying 1 between the two of them, they weren't excited about $30 a bottle, and I couldn't justify dropping more for other than the 3 bottles I already got, $30 is hella. But I still caved in and got my 3.

TRB had a great turnout for the release. My assumption was that the line would be long by noon, but when I showed up around 12:40 there were about 20 people ahead of me. If TRB was in SoCal, the lines would be a lot longer IMO. Anyways, by the time the doors opened at 2pm, the place was packed.

On the Shoulders of Giants is one of their bests releases so far. A very tasty sour with lots of oak and cherries... reminded me of older batches of Consecration that had a greater barrel presence.

Re-enrollment is open now for Founders per the email I just got.

What have other Founders members thought of the last year? It is my first beer society membership (Preservation doesn't count), so I don't have a basis of comparison beyond my opinion on the beer itself which generally ranges from "good" to "great" with a larger emphasis on "good." I'm re-upping though since it's a consistently solid and now easy to obtain local sour source. They seem to be into experimenting, so I'm generally interested in future releases too. I don't have much to comment on the benefits, but I enjoyed the Founder's night.

I'm not really sure what I think. Their beer is all good, but none of it is great, and I don't really think it ever will be. (Talking with a friend who worked there, their process is too clinical and precise to get the complexity a sour ought to actually have. I think they're as good as they're ever going to get, and it's not significantly better than RR sours or similar.)

So I don't know what I'm going to do. Really torn about this one.

Probably will not renew. Some of their stuff has been good, but I have skipped purchasing a few of the releases. Hopefully the last three months holds some good stuff, looking at you Map of the Sun and Cosmic Dust! Nice to have a local spot with sours, but I am happy with RR. Already signed up for De Garde Berliner and Wild, and hopefully SARA. Will stick with those two.

Unless some one wants to go halfsies?

Definitely Re-upping the Rare Barrel Membership. I think the beers have been good, and only see them getting better as time goes on and as they work out the kinks in their beers. I have seen beers progressively get better as time went on. If they can make more beers to the caliber of Enscrolled or On the Shoulders of Giants, I think they will be hitting more home runs next year. Also, having more growlers to fill would be great, I'll have the founders and the new one, double up my sours to go man.

Need more member only nights on Thursdays though, those have always been my favorite couple of times to go.
