They used to do other bases and they were all mediocre. The golden sour is by far the best they've come up with, so I don't really have an issue with them mostly doing different treatments with it.

I think another issue of mine is that between SARA, TRB, and lambics it seems like the only bottles I ever open are sour beers. I'd kind of like to rebalance, and shifting the ~$500 I spent on TRB over to trappists is a good way to do it, I think.

I've gone through phases like that before, IPAs-->BBA Imp Stouts. Diversity is key to not get burnt out on a style/flavor.

My tasting group and I renewed last night for another year. Most likely will be our last unless we start seeing something other than just oak aged sours, although I have been very pleased with everything I have had to date.

Would one of you kind souls in the Berkeley area be interested in trusteeing for us in 2016? Labels provided and thank you options would include a few thank you boxes throughout the year with fresh Pipeworks cans/Transient beers/Chicago locals.

If so, shoot me a message. Shipping from RB to LA where my buddy lives and then LA to Chicago got steep quick.
I can do this as well if you somehow cant find anyone. Live about 20 minutes away.

If anyone is willing to be a trustee for the upcoming year i could ship labels, and some extra stuff throughout the year. i really wanted to join this one, but cant find a trustee near the brewery.

New Draft Release | Positive Valence

"Come on over this Friday to try Positive Valence, a golden sour aged in oak barrels with orange peel and lemon peel. Positive Valence showcases notes of fresh squeezed orange juice and bright lemon acidity. At 5.1% this positively delicious sour will leave you asking yourself if it's too late in the day for that mimosa you wanted at breakfast."

Not really much of a stretch beyond Arrows of Neon.

So considering there's '15 Cosmic Dust at the anniv party, is that going to be the last ambassador release? There is one more release, yeah?

I hope not. Likely my least favourite RB beer that stuff.

Doubtful. It was a Founder/Ambassador release last year, so that would be lame.

Debating on joining for the first time tomorrow. Which is better....RB or the Bruery? I live 50 mins from RB.

Buddy of mine is on their listserve, said they sent out an email to all members and subscribers so that you could see everyone on the serve. Inbox currently getting pounded with the reply alls. Said some of the emails were bringing teh lulz.

I did not renew and received the email. Not sure what I'm missing...

Yes, I agree, they have definitely done it a few times before.

You are not missing anything. I was not sure who all received that email hence my comment.

I had no idea they did that. At least they are kinda open about it now.

Hit me up if this doesn;t get taken care of. I live 30 minutes from RB and also trustee for an out of towner.

I don't see anything wrong with them all being oak aged sours. In fact if I was being charged $25+ a btl for non oak aged sours I'd be kinda peeved

What I meant was different barrel treatments. Syrah/Cabernet/Chardonnay/Bourbon barrels, etc.

I think they do experiment but they leave it for pours in the tasting room. I like it better than the Bruery way of "check out all this stuff we experimented on, buy it from us!!"

Something in the middle would be nice, rather than drinking nothing but the same base.

RB since you live closer and can take advantage of the growler fills.

And the tasting room.

This. PLus you can take advatage of the better perks of RB IMO.

Well, due to technical difficulties, I couldn't sign up. Sigh. Anybody have a spare growler they'd be willing to help me out with? I can repay you with some great beers, etc. TRB failed at the internet for me today.

Edit: looks like someone answered the call. Thanks!
