You sir are not a hop head. Welcome to the club. I love New Belgium beers, but Ranger, Snowday and Hoptober are horrible to me.....but I hate IPA's and any overly hopped beer.

Sorry, this post lacks logic to me...How does one who hates hoppy beers determine that someone else he's never met is NOT a hop head?

Since they share a dislike for what is reputed to be an over-hopped IPA?

Regardless of what one thinks of that logic, i think the conclusion is probably accurate. I certainly am a hophead. And in my opinion, Ranger is not overly hoppy. Ergo, I would say that someone who found Ranger too hoppy would not be a hop-head.

Not that "hop-head" is a title that one should aspire to. :p Drink what you like! :D

I hear you...I tried a Ranger a week or so ago. I don't understand the hoppy beer fad. Maybe people like making these because they can hide the flaws under the massive amounts of hops.

Really, if you think Ranger is hoppy, I'd hate to see you taste anything by Stone Brewery.

I did, i still liked ranger more than, stones ipa-overrated. Maybe i got a super fresh ranger, and a stalish stone, but i was disapointed with that. With many of stones other offerings, i think are very good, their ipa, pale ale just seemed mediocre to me,just my opinion i guess. I drank some bombers which had freshness dates and they were still very good 3-4 months past them like the smoked porter, ruination.

Just have to add: Ranger is the beer that transitioned my sister and SWMBO into hop heads last year. Before that, neither would drink even a pale ale because it was too hoppy.

I agree too ,that a Ranger is a good entry level gateway ipa, its a really good hoppy ipa that is clean and quaffable. I would recommend this to anybody unshure of ipa's. I think its along the lines of 2 hearted but more candylike and maybe hop flavored than too bitter, not shure but I think alot of pale ales can be too bitter myself, certain ipa's have a great balance and ranger is one of them. I certainly easily drank these over bells pale ale or sirra nevada pale ale, as far as bitter balance.

i love hops, so ranger, celebration, hoptober... great beers. snow day: my mouth is watering at the 2 i still have cellaring. awesome stuff
