donno if i should laugh it off, start learning or commence new job searching. im not opposed to doing new tasks and taking on different work but this is not my area of expertise and i know they wont provide me with any training
 
I live in a small town in the middle of coal country PA.
~1500 people where everyone seemingly knows one another. I never had to lock my doors until our dog learned to open them and started leaving himself out to say hi (and by say hi I mean scare the **** out of people walking by.)

There has always been diehard racism towards anyone who is not a roughneck with coal mining heritage. (Read this as Irish/Sweedish/German aka PA Dutch whites who loathe anyone who isnt white and even some who are.) Its tolerable...but its something that im constantly in contention with.

Lately, **** is getting weird in our neighboring towns. Drugs have always been around but its getting worse. Unrelated to drugs, this week a 15 year old took a shotgun to the face of his own 18 year old brother over a girl and blew his head off.

I dont want my children growing up in this kinda world. Where can we find asylum with other decent humans who respect and appreciate one another and terrorism/hatred/stupidity doesnt exist?

Man, that part about the gun incident is awful.

I grew up in a somewhat rough part of town and got out as soon as I was old enough to find my own place. I live in what most people would consider the "sticks" nowadays, and the only real crimes are drug related. I don't think there's any way to escape that in today's world, but thankfully it's mostly isolated crimes that usually invovle the people selling or using drugs.

It's still better than dealing with multiple car break ins, gang related activity on the same street where I lived, and overall never feeling safe in my own neighborhood.

I feel like im in a men in black sequel. Why did I come to work today? Im suppose to be home playing softball with my daughter tonight not sitting in traffic for 4 hours.
