was working a floating Rappala minnow on the surface with an ultralight setup. had a couple solid strikes, and landed/released one 7-8" Smallmouth bass. it's a new pond to me, with this my third outing there and first time focused on bass and not jigging for Crappie. the place gets a lot of pressure from locals, so my expectations are low.

word is that the state record catfish was caught here a while back; there were several fishing pairs that showed up a few min before I headed out, and one lady landed what looked to be a decent cat around 12-14"

This morning as the sun started to burn off the fog.

you would admit that on a public forum? (the seeing it part, not the age)

:coff4:
Hey, I was, like, 19 or 20 years old and my gf (now my wife of 51 years) wanted to see it. I grew up in a small, rural, community where the local theater was about the only entertainment. We’d go to almost any flick that was showing, just to have something to do.

I remember when it didn't matter what movie was showing, especially at the drive-in.

The town I went to HS in had a theater. The county seat, 20 miles away, had a drive-in that was open in the summer (nobody goes to a drive-in when it’s -20° F). We’re far enough north that it doesn’t get dark until almost 10PM in June-July. So, we could go to a 7:00 movie, which got over about 9:15, drive to the next town, and try to stay awake until the end of the double feature, which didn’t get over until about 1:00 AM.

It was kind of like American Graffiti but the cars weren’t as cool.

sometimes more.

one time, we got and additional 20cm AFTER this storm dumped a full meter on us

7 to 8 inches is plenty enough for a snowblower, given that I'm old, fat, slow & lazy.

we actually get a lot of our snow diverted north by the Blue Ridge Mountains (sub range of the Appalachians)

our county is under the second 'n' in 'mountains'

We got 20" of snow in March 1980 - the most by far that I've ever seen here. I wonder if that was the same front?

my photo is from December '09

we were "stuck" in Las Vegas an extra 2 days because Dulles was closed

came home to a big pile of packed plowed snow blocking our driveway (too early for alliteration?)

There comes point where it is cheaper to fly first class and stay in 5 star hotels and this may have gone over that point.
Nope! It's all about the "roughing it" in the "great out doors". Can't get that in a A330 at 35,000 ft. And you can't make smores in a 5 star. And did I mention getting ticks? 🪰🐞🐜
Cheers, :mug:
