100% agree, might as well have just made a video game meme with an obscure Pokemon/rap/beer reference, like usual.

It is saddening that I need to articulate this: don't post things that you wouldn't want your family to read if you yourself passed away. Feign empathy or decency if the death of a 21 year old is too difficult an abstraction for you. It's easy to lay blame at alleged decisions, lifestyle choices, or circumstances to rationalize the capricious nature of life and how it can be snuffed out. For some it's equally difficult to define the scope of what conduct is toxic, **** shaming, or sexist in a group full of edgelords pushing the envelope while high on the most powerful beers in the world. What we witnessed is distilled tragedy and should serve as a cautionary reminder that we can always improve how we interact, the degree of respect we impart, and the toffee soaked community that we inhabit.

There is some good stuff in there, but then he falls into the stupid meme ******** and just makes it all seem like a joke.

Lots of people egged-on her self-destructive behavior, but lots of others raised the alarm. When she posted her chug video with barleywine/Xanax (or some anti-seizure medication), lots of people told her she should not be mixing those things, but others thought it was funny and definitely rewarded it with attention. When she posted her chug video where she was brandishing a firearm, lots of people said she shouldn't be handling a weapon while intoxicated, but others thought it was awesome.

I don't think that BiL is responsible for her death (I think these behaviors would have happened/were happening independent of BiL), but some people's behavior toward her certainly didn't help. Ultimately, there is only so much you can do for a stranger on the internet though.

For sure, but there are a lot of people who seriously lack empathy online and are completely clueless as to just how terrible they really are.

I read it as being sincere. Lots of people try to deal with sad situations by inserting a bit of levity - that's how I read this.

I'm sure it is. But I've made enough terrible death jokes in my personal life in writing to know inflection/tone/emphasis/humor/sarcasm can't be translated into just words on a page. It's just safer to be sincere.

Sometimes you just need to drop the persona and be a normal human being. This would've been a good time to do so.

This whole scenario is ****** af. Let’s not be hasty to blame or judge. Some members of that group are insufferable dick bags, obviously. In hindsight I would guess many of the folks would act entirely differently if they knew the seriousness of the issue at hand. It’s very easy to arm-chair QB this one but in reality it’s a tragedy and should be viewed as such. BIL is not to blame, but there are a bunch of members who should feel some shame.

The neckbeards did want to "see her tits" but at the same time she was always putting them out there for attention so they're both in the wrong

My man I think this statement will age poorly.

Or I guess in the parlance of the day, "there is a hint of malty oxidization that bequeaths an unpleasant note when imbibed and I fear that this will only become as cardboard as an Amazon warehouse with time spent laying down"

i'd put money on Trump resigning more likely than people actually having some introspection and changing how they behave on the internet. this will be a distant memory in two days

The beer giveaway for Caetie GoFundMe donations has started to bring life and maybe a touch of humanity back to the BiL group. Seriously, no pun intended there.

TIL the membership of a FB group headed by a no talent hack is comprised almost entirely of **** bags. Color me shocked.
