BTW what type of mead did you use for that mead watermelon dealio? Was thinking about trying the same thing at some point this summer. Actually that would be a great one to do when you guys visit.
Whales. The first one was B Nektar Milton's Madness which should be in distro or limited or was it club only? I forget. And the other one was South Florida Fruit Punch, a year-old Garagiste bottle. I would recommend trying Death Unicorn, Zombie Killer, the Crafted Watermelon Gose Mead, any crappy traditional you dread drinking... Schramm raspberry or blackberry if you are feeling intense.

Didn't even have it on. Double Stack however, is so potent you can smell the maple in your friend's glass at the other end of the picnic table. The Key Lime Berliner was bonkers. All three IPA's I tried were unique and top notch.

My mind was blown at everything. I sat there and contemplated the ways they must be cheating.

Lots of people were playing Go in line at Fremont on Saturday.

I was too old when it first came out in the 90s so it's one of those things I've just never understood.
I'm just old enough to have missed it the first time around but young enough that I have friends who were into it. I think 1983 is the cutoff birth year.

What is Spontanbasil supposed to cost?

When I bought a bottle a few months back, I paid $18.50. Today I popped into a bottle shop looking for a couple more items for a BIF box, and while the shop is known to overcharge, I can't imagine they're charging roughly double retail, yet it was on the shelves for $36.

Down to €5 at Belgian supermarkets because they can't get rid of it.

Yeah it's like 32 - 36 bucks here, I just laughed when I saw it. ******* gypsy brewer...

Literally no one thinks that, not even shitlords.
Not srs about that, but I've met a few people who are really in to Mikkeller. I've had some really great Mikkeller beers, but they're the crazy expensive barrel aged ones and they are not worth what they cost. After hearing generally positive reviews I did buy a Spontanbasil because I love basil and I love lambic. Wasn't thrilled about paying $28 for it but i'm sure i'll enjoy it. Doubtful i'll buy it again.

I liked SpontenBasil, but not enough to ever buy it again at retail price (about 28-30 in North Carolina).

Speaking of that beer, sometimes I wish my friends would ask me before purchasing beer while they are traveling so I could warn them about what that they could get locally or semi-locally. One of my friends hauled one of those all the way back from Belgium (in a spot in a wine check that could have been used for another Golden Blend 750 or Cantillon bottle or something) when it's turding up the shelves 2 hours away.

In my experience, his whole image is attractive to noobs. This euro, "gypsy" brewer comes to town with fancy labels and outrageous beers. Then he brews with hometown heroes. "Omg this guy is like a rockstar, just look at this facebook post from my local brewery, and he's brewing with THEM!?".

Then they go on to find out about Poop coffee, Black Holes and Spontans and peeps be "lol wut? crazy". It's a perfect recipe for people new to being blown away by this whole amazing world of new beers outside of lagers.

Last time I had one of his beers (outside of Spontanbasil) the barman warned me it was expensive and sour so be careful!!! It tasted like burnt rubber and I didn't finish it. He was like "warned you buddy" with this super smug look on his face like he bested me or something. That's neither here nor there though.

Vanilla Shake? Are you kidding me? Shitlords were on that pronto.
I really like most of the Mikkeller I've had ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (except for their pricing).
When FFF had fresh kegs all the time, I was ordering those over their stuff a lot. It was a run up to WarPigs opening or something. Went on for more than a year. Almost all of them were stellar, so I am willing to contend it is a freshness issue.
