You should go and light yourself on fire in protest.

My Nostradamus-like prediction is that the minute they, inevitably, roll out the "bock with Bach" pairing, the entire beer universe, having achieved its ultimate peak, will fold up into itself and explode in a death knell supernova that erupts directly out of Shaun Hill's gullet, finally bringing an answer to the centuries-old question of how the craft beer "bubble" will burst.
/Beer.
can anyone recommend a beer similar to 4d that is readily available or easier to come by? not just any old ale (adam for example) but something similar to 4d in taste. every old ale i've had has been pretty unique...but i really wanna find something close to 4d. i don't follow new releases much so i haven't seen anything come out recently like that...and a lot of breweries don't really pump out that style.
Buddy is in Charleston, SC. Any local spot(s) he may be able to find some Mexican Cake?
Or is it a goner.
-Probably- a goner, but he might get lucky if some stores held on to their allocations, or got a lot and have low limits. Best bets would probably to check Bottles in Mt. Pleasant and Total Wine. Maybe some of the less-obvious spots too, like Harris Teeter, Earth Fare, etc.
Me too, someone bought them for me and I don't believe we have given them away yet - certainly have never used them.![]()
I have these plates.
Thanks!
I have them proudly displayed with my mother's china. I think they are funny.Me too, someone bought them for me and I don't believe we have given them away yet - certainly have never used them.
its pretty sad that no other breweries make one that's easier to come by....i've had so many but they're usually just random one off's. 4d is good but i feel like any other brewery can execute a really good old ale but they won't bother because its not the latest newmoney garbage release. feelsbadmanGratitude?
Oh wait. Easier to come by. NM.
Not technically an old ale though.
More or less. If anything, they go right to barleywine. Though I just did look up a list and felt dumb for not coming up with Old Stock on my own. That's usually available in the right places.its pretty sad that no other breweries make one that's easier to come by....i've had so many but they're usually just random one off's. 4d is good but i feel like any other brewery can execute a really good old ale but they won't bother because its not the latest newmoney garbage release. feelsbadman
Old Stock needs a few years to be anything like enjoyable and few more to actually get good.More or less. If anything, they go right to barleywine. Though I just did look up a list and felt dumb for not coming up with Old Stock on my own. That's usually available in the right places.
BA Old Stock, tho...Old Stock needs a few years to be anything like enjoyable and few more to actually get good.

Stille Nacht has a bottle limit in Asheville. '15 is the hottest batch in several years and won't be worth checking on again until 2020. Almost gave the poor guy working at the bottle shop a diatribe on why I actually deserved a case, but just ordered one instead.I'm annually baffled by how NC continues to produce and sell that beer given how bad it is right out of the gate, and that 99% of people buying it must be drinking it immediately, right? I do love how it ages "faster" than a lot of other stuff -- totally ready to drink in 3-5 years depending on the vintage.

I have to agree on that beer, but 2014 was drinking great right off the bat. The only batch I've drank more than one of fresh.I'm annually baffled by how NC continues to produce and sell that beer given how bad it is right out of the gate, and that 99% of people buying it must be drinking it immediately, right?
