I'm drinking a Liefmans Cuvee-Brut currently...tastes so much like the New Glarus fruit beers. Where has this beer been all my life? I'm going to be picking up a lot more of these for the summer.

I bought one, I'm a sucker for new breweries to hit our distro.

So John Mallet from Bells is making a low key visit to Australia to judge at the beer awards. Apparently he's agreed to bring "some" beer for an event which I've been asked to host.

I don't know a heap about them outside of Hopslam/Two hearted/Oberon reputation. Is there anything I should know? I don't think many peeps know about them here in Australia so I'm sure I can wing it, but given I won't have much time to prepare between now and Sunday... Anyone have any good tidbits that'll make me look like an expert?

Miller ponys are in 6 packs now?!?!?!!!???!!! What sort of ******** is this? How am I supposed to get all nostalgic when I only get 42 oz of beer instead of 56? This is turrible.

Years ago I ran a drive thru beer store and the Miller driver would always put 2 cases of High Life ponys on a seperate invoice for me to pay cash for, I guess so I could save the $6 or whatever the markup was then. Used to drink those once the wine buzz had kicked in with a particularly crazy ex. Oh those were the days.

So John Mallet from Bells is making a low key visit to Australia to judge at the beer awards. Apparently he's agreed to bring "some" beer for an event which I've been asked to host.

Larry Bell is a giant ******* who makes some very good beer. Maybe you can work that in somehow.

There really isn't a whole lot to know. They've been around forever, they just did a big expansion of the production facility and their taproom (Eccentric Cafe), they're canning some stuff now, and they ****** up the last batch of Black Note, which forced them to bottle BA Expedition.

Interesting, hadn't heard that before. Not that it surprises me, "*******" and "successful craft brewery owner" seem to go together relatively often.

What price did everyone pay for the 12-pack of Sierra Nevada Beer Camp?

Uh, so I saw it at the store with the same price tag as other SN 12-packs ($14 or so) and it rang up at $29 or so. I pointed this out and they adjusted it at the register.

.... .... did they **** up? lol. Just wondering. I have a feeling they ****** up.

Strange how often people who do well for themselves with a small business get labeled ********. Maybe that's just what it takes to be successful or other's tend to begrudge those who are?

Now I rarely see 2 Hearted tall boys more than 4 weeks old and bought some the other day that had been canned 3 days before. I could really give a **** if Larry Bell rubs people the wrong way or wants to go to every Cubs home game.

Yeah the Innovation thing was ******** but seemingly most of the Carolinas ate it up.

Expedition Stout is amazing, as is Third Cost Old Ale. If you're lucky he will bring some QFalls or Poolside cans. Those are new this spring. Canning them is new. They have been draught favorites.

In STL I pretty routinely see Two Hearted cans less than a week or two old. That's fresher than a lot of locals and at ~$8 for a 4x16 it's tough to pass up.

I drink more Two Hearted than I do any other beer, and it's not even close. Doesn't bother me that he's an *******, I was just pointing it out in an apparently failed attempt at humor.

I will say that, despite me complaining about the age of the Two-Hearted bottles we see out here, it's one of the few IPAs that usually doesn't taste like it's fallen off that much. The biggest reason I don't buy as much any more is because now we have a constant stream of fresh Alpine Duet showing up, which I prefer (even in the Green Flash iteration).

Just picked up Ninkasi Bourbon Space Monkeys or whatever it is.
Haven't had a BA stout in a while and since we're not exactly brimming with options here I figured I'd give it a shot. Hope it's drinkable.

It's obviously not as good as the original Alpine stuff was, but for a shelf 6-pack IPA I'd say it's the best we have in this part of the country.

Shelf IPA talk: when fresh it's hard to beat Union Jack (for both quality and value) in my opinion. Haven't had Two Hearted in years though.

Agree, but I haven't seen a fresh bottle of Union Jack since 2012, which was shortly after FW started distro to Philly. I haven't bought it since.
