Funny thing about Rare is how everyone says it's really hot but will be good in a couple years.

It already aged a couple years, that's why it's $60. Also, are these people fortune tellers or something? It might still be hot in a couple years and already start oxidizing before it ever mellows.

I thought it was a lot more oaky than hot, but I drink a ton of whiskey and have a high threshold for heat. Idk.

And probably because you have a pair of testicals and realize that a beer put in whiskey barrels for two years might be a little hot.

I can't stand the "it's too hot but will be great in 2 years" talk. It's a BA ******* 14% stout. Of course it's hot.

I didn't find Rare any more "hot" than any other typical barrel-aged stout. Also wasn't overly oaky to me either. Got some interesting hints of red wine grapes/dark fruits but otherwise didn't seem unique enough from regular BCBS to be worth six times the price. You mileage may vary of course.

I had a thought about you running across Stone enjoy after and then you had the post deleted.
I forget what the thought was. I'm stoned.
I was going to ask for opinions on enjoy after, but I already bought that ****. Plus it's Stone so I'm sure it's not worth the $10 I spent.

While picking up some Bourbon County at a local supermarket, the checkout lady asked what I thought about drinking one and saving one because they are supposed to be cellarable. I told her that while she can cellar it, it'll taste better if she drinks it fresh.

You mean you didn't immediately show her your elaborate cellar tracking app?

All of the ISO:FT around Goose Island today made me realize how far out of the game I am. I have no idea how beer trading works anymore.
I really do wonder how much Bourbon County this year is actually being drank within the next few months.

For that matter, do you guys still enjoy BCBS? Last year's was a little hot for me, but still great, but this year's is pretty intense on the sweetness and umami. Forget soy sauce - as it warmed I got more and more teriyaki out of it than anything.

Maybe it's because I scored the basic bitch 13.8% non-Pappy aged version.

If it's more teriyaki-style then I'll finally get to experience what it's like to drink my teriyaki marinade straight and I'm kind of (totally?) excited for that... always wondered, never dared. Just need to tear myself away from this Abrasive...

Budweiser really does make dreams come true etc etc

I drank a bottle of '15 last night. Dark chocolate, slightly smokey, and bourbon zing is what I got from it.

On tap it was great. I love BCBS fresh and will crack one tonight. I consume probably the first 50% of what I buy in the first 3 months or so and then get stingy/scared I'm gonna run out and have about 1 a month.

I powered through a 10oz pour of it at the restaurant here and it was good, but that's all I need for the next year.

As promised. Gonna need something to get me through this OU/OSU game. (I'm a Longhorn and my wife is OU... this season sucks).
