Was just at my local store and noticed several Goose Island Black Friday posters in strategic locations. Each one had a hand written note taped on: "Plenty to go around!" "Lots to sell that day!" "We'll have a ton!"

My local spot said he expected that they would have enough regular that it would last "a few hours" and "maybe until Saturday."

Unless he pulled in a pallet of regular or more, he's in for an unpleasant surprise.

Chicago though? Seems like people are always walking into a huge pile of it somewhere.

I guess this is as good as any place for this question.

I was at a local shop and noticed these bottles. Looking closer I see it's a 4 year vertical and grand cru. I've never had Bon Chien, is this something anyone has had aged v. fresh. At $23 ea it was a bit much at that time to buy. None the less wondering if it would be a good vertical to drink or not worth the price? I'm assuming these were all sent to the store at the same time. Maybe I'm wrong.

In my experience Bon-Chien ages pretty well and as a BFM obsessive I would gave definitely picked up a few bottles (and am incredibly jealous of everyone who has this stuff on shelves since Oklahoma doesn't get B. United distro). Worth $100 for the vertical? Probably not. Like I said, I'm obsessed with that stuff and yet probably wouldn't buy all 4. 2012 was particularly good - wish I still had some!

Haven't had that Grand Cru megamix but have heard those can be hit or miss (although the 2012 grand cru rose is one of my favorite beers I've ever had).

Buy a bottle, open it. Do you like it?(you will)

Go back and buy the rest.

Fantastic beer that ages incredibly well. Reports of decade+ old bottles still tasting great.

...can probably comment further. I see (from untappd) that they've previously enjoyed some older bottles.
Its probably been 5 years since ive had one of these. I recall (rhum? and grand cru) versions that were upwards of 15-16% alcohol and the combination of high alcohol flavors/burn and sour just didnt play well together or do it for me. I still have a couple bottles from circa '04-'06 that im hesitant to open for the previously mentioned reasons. Donno if newer batches are more tame? I think i recall the abv droping to 11 which is still more than I personally would like in a sour but its better than the 15-16% abv experiences that are forever burned into my memory.

2013 Frenchy Wine GC and 2007 I had recently were killer. The 2013 was super tart and spritzy with the carb. Huge cherry and strawberry flavor with caramel and funky wine oak on the finish. 2007 was super leathery and a bit more refined, still some tart cherry and oak, just not as much and it was fairly flat and velvety, wish I had it in dusty verts on my shelves. Try a few for sure.

Phat beer. $92 for the 4-year vertical totally worth it IMHO (but then I spend way too much on beer).

lol. I am currently making negative dollars on my site and just offered paid writing positions.

but... looking at their ad strategy, I think it could be done a lot better.
I don't understand. You legally have to pay people to work.

I don't know the finer details of each country/state's laws but if it's just content rather than a full time/regular role then I'm sure it's fine. Heaps of websites/magazines do it.
Sure, you can contribute content for free as a freelancer, but an "unpaid position" ain't that.

Opened a Rare Barrel Home Sour Home today for Thanksgiving. Been slowly adding good beer to the nieces drinking habits. Both nieces asked for a bottle if I could find one that they could take away. I guess I have new demands on my RB allocations.

I guess my plan was to educate and show them good beer. It has taken a couple of years, but I created monsters.

******* neckbeard nephews left most of the glass I poured them.

I poured about 4 spoonfulls of my homemade cranberry sauce into a teku full of das Wunderkind last night. It was remarkable. No pics were taken.

Also more to topic my niece also is really into good beer now. Shes a sour head and every time shes in Austin she visits Jester King. I'm real proud.

I don't have any nephews I would waste good beer on they're all jerks and also minors.
