I wasn't sure where to post this and do hope that it doesn't go against your terms of service.

I am currently in the process of researching for my final year of university dissertation which is a business plan and would love to hear some thoughts on my product/ service idea.

The idea is a standard beer subscription service which I'm sure you are all familiar with, with the twist of tailoring it to you to assure you get the most satisfaction from the beers! By telling me what your flavour preferences are along with your dislikes, I will be able to pick the beers accordingly.

Every year at KBS time stores around here sell their "vintage" KBS to rubes in 4 or 6 packs with a bottle for each year at some exorbitant price. There's been so much of it that now stores do mixed 4 packs of the past two vintages at an inflated rate.

Why do people pay more for an aged coffee stout?

The brewery is unrecognizable today. Both physically and as a metaphor. Every time in the last year I have driven past on the way to a show in GR I am stunned. Their little corner of GR is out of room though. I have never seen the Detroit location, but I don’t think it has room to grow either. Maybe San Miguel is providing extra capacity elsewhere.

Makes sense since they own a minority stake in Avery as well.

That’s an especially big deal because Avery moved into a new production facility in 2015 that can produce up to 150,000 barrels per year. Founders is apparently producing as much as 350,000 barrels of All Day IPA at this point, so Michigan-based brewer can certainly help Avery fill some space in their production calendar. ”

It's my dad's favorite beer, but he also lives in TN, which generally is a beer wasteland.

The overwhelming majority of the capacity at Avery produces two beers, All Day IPA and White Rascal. Every other beer they make is a rounding error. Many tasty rounding errors, but still.

Every single Safeway and gas station out here in Seattle and the surrounding area has All Day tallboy singles.

I listened to a podcast a couple months ago with somebody from Avery who suggested the brewery might not have survived its expansion if not for Founders needing the extra All Day capacity.

Somewhat surprised to hear White Rascal is produced in so much volume. I know I see it everywhere but I feel like I'm the only person I see buying it.

I personally don't drink much of it, but my understanding is that White Rascal built the new brewery, and the growth beer for them now is El Gose, but San Miguel and All Day IPA saved Avery's bacon.

I've been drinking Avery since the early days so I have a soft spot in the palate for them, and they needed to finally get out of the Alley, but they dug themselves a hole with that massive palace of a brewery.

I think that beer is the beer of choice for the entry level craft drinker because it's good and easily palatable, the market is over saturated with it (IMO) and it's price point. Craft beer for people who want you to think they are into craft beer.
