Craft beer forums are dead. Everyone's hanging at rare pog collection forums now.

I can let some of you in on a nice one, just don't go directly to the iso: ft section please.
The Southwest section of BeerAdvocate is a ******* ghost town... used to be so damn active back in the day. Heck it's hard to get people to talk in the regional forums here!

As more people got into beer everything just went hyper-local as far as discussion goes. I am in a few Austin Beer specific Facebook groups whereas in 2009.... there were maybe 100-200 guys in the entire ******* state talking about this stuff that weren't industry (of which were were NINE craft breweries. I just looked that up. NINE. There's prolly around 50 in just Austin now)

I'd be shocked if Omnipollo wasn't first
As stupid as most of the **** they make is I can't hate on them too much because they are kind of the OG's of a lot of this ********. It's generally a terrible idea but at least it was kind of an original idea when they started this kind of nonsense.

The Pittsburgh section was pretty dead, too, when I was there. Just a handful of people actively posting in it. Maybe a half-dozen, at best. The Pittsburgh thread is pretty active here, however.

Facebook groups are terrible for conversation since it all gets jumbled up and not as easy to search.

And the fact that they are either ridiculously overmoderated or you just have people calling each other names like they're in high school. That, and the "everything is the AWESOMEZ in craft beer", is pretty damned annoying.

Yessir, depends where exactly you'll be but Treintaycinco and Calle Cimarrona are easily the best and most consistent breweries in the country. Can't go wrong with either.
I'm flying in for a wedding in Monteverde, apart from that and San Jose I don't have any plans yet. Tried looking up some bars in Monteverde and only found some directions like "walk 300m east from the gas station for some good beer"

Those are both in San Jose right? I'll check them out!

That's pretty much every address in Costa Rica. Treintaycinco's address is like "300 meters west of the old mall".

Yes, they're both in San Jose, although another option rather than going to the breweries directly is checking out a bar with a variety of local beers. I've heard good things about Wilk, El Gaff, and Stiefel Pub (Stiefel's address is "50 meters east of the yellow house on 7th avenue").

Ta hell with goin to the bars in MV. Grab a liter of wine and head up to the continental divide or into the woods on any trail. That place is pure magic, as soon as you get into the forest.

A friend of mine is marrying a girl from there so I'm sure she'll know what's fun and what's not. I'd never heard of it but apparently I'm the only one

Ha. You weren't kidding.

"Avenida 7, 50 Este de la Casa Amarilla"

Gawd I love South and Central America.

So I was in Winnemucca, NV for the first time in a few months for court today. Won movie tickets during the drive out. Was feeling lucky, so I went into this liquor store that has been known to have some old ipas and barrel aged offerings from yesteryear.

Saw what I thought was a new label for double jack 4 packs. Boy was I wrong.

Bottled on: January 2016

Did buy a 6 pack of 2018 Stone Wootstout for $9.99

Congrats on the barleywine find, bro.

FYI for the future: Double Jack was discontinued last year. So it's all old if you find it.
