I am trying to brew a Dry Stout. I can't see a way to raise RA high enough to match the SRM, While staying in the guidelines.

Starting Water (ppm):
Ca: 26.4
Mg: 12.6
Na: 40
Cl: 90
SO4: 87.1
HCO3: 49

Mash / Sparge Vol (gal): 4.5 / 5.5
Dilution Rate: 0%

Adjustments (grams) Mash / Boil Kettle:
CaCO3: 0 / 0
CaSO4: 0 / 0
CaCl2: 0 / 0
MgSO4: 0 / 0
NaHCO3: 0 / 0
NaCl: 0 / 0
HCL Acid: 0 / 0
Lactic Acid: 0 / 0

Mash Water / Total water (ppm):
Ca: 26 / 26
Mg: 13 / 13
Na: 40 / 40
Cl: 90 / 90
SO4: 87 / 87
CaCO3: 40 / 40

RA (mash only): 14 (6 to 11 SRM)
Cl to SO4 (total water): 1.03 (Balanced)

Looks to me like you need to dillute with distilled water and then build back up to the profile you need. That is the only way to get within the recommended ranges when you have higher values than the range calls for. TH's spreadsheet give you the option for dilution.

I'm new at this so I hope someone with more experience chimes in. But IMHO, I think it much wiser to forego the pre-defined styles and just aim to adjust your water so the RA and SRM match what you are trying to brew. As long as you are within the recommended ranges with your mineral additions, you should be fine.
