Question for ya, when racking tithe secondary can you use a funnel with screen filter to try to weed any extra sediment out? Not sure if this would cause any type of oxidation problems. Going to be racking my Falconers flight so I can dry hop it this weekend. May wait some extra time though as I am still getting some airlock movement. About 1 bubble every 5-6 min

Figured that would cause oxidation good thing I asked prior to thinking I was smarter :) thanks for the info

If you're going to secondary, only transfer via siphon. Get the hose at the bottom of the secondary, and minimize splashing wherever possible.

When racking from my secondary the last two times with an autosiphon, I used a (boiled, sterilized) muslin bag tie around the end of my siphon to eliminate any larger hop sediment from my glass carboy. I didnt need to utilize this method when racking to my secondary the previous two times because my hops were well buried beneath the yeast cake on the bottom. However, this current batch I'm fermenting is a double IPA, and ive added quite a few ounces of pellets to the boil which probably will end up in my crausen, on the rim of the primary fermenter pail, and be in some state of suspension in my primary. So, I'm thinking of using the muslin bag method again on my autosiphon out of the primary (previously I used the pail spigot and a hose). I just will boil the muslin to be sure I'm keeping things sterile. I'll let you know in a week!
