Quick Question on Saving Yeast

Greetings! Sorry if this is found somewhere in these forums. I found a lot of related information, but couldn't get a definitive answer to my question. Anyway, I have harvested some yeast from a Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale using some DME. I'm just wondering which part of my concoction I am supposed to keep...the darker liquid at the top or the lighter cake at the bottom?
