quick question on dry hopping

first time dry hopping. im going to rack an alpha king pa clone into the secondary next week and its going to sit there for 2 weeks. im using 1 oz each of cascade, centennial, and columbus. should i dry hop in the first week or second week? whats the difference? thanks

Has the beer completely finished fermenting? Fermentation can drive off the aroma from dry hopping. Either way I personally would wait until the last week. From what ive read, dry hopping wears off as time passes. I would want the beer to finish dry hopping as close to drinking time as possible.

Keep in mind you can dry hop the full two weeks if you wanted. I normally do 7-10 days, but there are quite a few people on here that go 14 days

dry hop towards the end. you are dry hopping in order to add a fresh hop aroma, so do it as close to the drinking glass as possible.

Yea I always dry hop one week prior to kegging or bottling.

Hell, if you are kegging... put all the hops in a sanitized nylon bag (or pantyhose) with some sanitized aquarium beads and drop em in while racking into the keg, let them stay the whole time.

+1 to this. Mac and Jack's Brewery out in Redmond, WA does this with their kegs and I'll testify to the great taste it gives the beer.

BTW, if you are in the Redmond, WA area, Mac and Jack's gives tours and you will get to sample all their brews.

I put a teaspoon of Cascade hops in my pint beer glass before pouring the beer. I use the gaps between my teeth (gritted teeth) to filter out the hops. (Today in the UK it is red nose day when people do or say silly things to raise money for charity)
