I have recently designed a recipe for Saturday. What do you guys think? I only added the Crystal Malt to increase the SRM for the style. Will this much Crystal adversely affect the flavor? Any input will be appreciated. I have made Apfelwein and wines, but this will be my first beer.

Yes it will.

I use Munich in my ESB's to give it a little sweetness, and I'd focus more on flavor than color.

I have an ESB that is about to be bottled, my first ESB may I add. I had 9% Crystal 30L and 3% Crystal 60L and the remaining was Marris Otter.

I have poked around for ESB recipes and had read not to let Crystal be more than 15% of the total grist bill.

that is a ton of crystal. I have never seen a recipe for over a pound of crystal in a 6 gallon recipe before.

If I were you, I would make it like 3/4 pound victory or biscuit, 3/4 pound crystal (Brititsh!) and the rest Maris Otter.

I would also shoot for a medium body, not full body. It will be plenty full just from the maris otter. I mash at 152 or so for ESB's.

Last note, the last package of EKG clocked in at over 7% AA, so make sure you adjust accordingly.

Thanks for all the input guys. I appreciate it. I think, since this is my FIRST brew (and since I just picked up my SQ-14 burner yesterday!) I will do a full volume BIAB. A Maris Otter/East Kent Golding SMaSH; so I can figure out the efficiency of my setup and forego Stovetop BIAB for now. :D
