Questionable chamber?

So I want to make my first mead but don't want to make 5 gallons of it with my brew kit.

I have a glass Oberwise gallon milk jug. Would that work or should I just get a gallon carboy?

As long as you can find a stopper and airlock that will fit tightly around the mouth of the bottle, that will work just fine. A gallon glass jug is a gallon glass jug, regardless of what its original purpose was.
