I have a coiled copper wort immersion chiller. I haven't used it in several months, and was going to use it to chill a batch of brew, but noticed where some spots have began to oxidize. Would it still be safe to use with my beer, or should I get a new one? Not sure if it would harm it or not. Thanks.

I have some spots on mine as well I still toss it on the last 10 minutes of boil and haven't noticed anything off from it.

I think it's actually less reactive with the wort when is has an oxidized layer. I've read that you shouldn't scrub them clean as you reveal more of the fresh copper that will then react with the wort. That said I don't think copper is an issue on the hot side of brewing so go ahead and use it.

As long as it's not the green stuff. Verdigris I believe is what it is called. It is potentially dangerous

It does have a little green on it. Any way to clean it, or do I need to cut my losses? Thanks for the help guys

Dunk it in a bucket of starsan for 5 minutes. Bright and shiny just like new.

Yup. Starsan and an old toothbrush will get
The green off. The rest of the discoloration is normal
