I'm a bit confused.

I have primed my keg, applied some CO2, purged the O2.
It has been sitting for 3 weeks now at around 68 deg F.

The next steps is where I am shaky and have yet to find a direct answer.
1. Put the keg into the kegerator for a day or so to absorb CO2 (no gas connected at this time).

2. After a couple of days purge the remaining CO2 in the headspace and connect the CO2 line to the keg at around 12 psi.

Sound good so far, or is some of that unnecessary?

Finally, assuming 1 & 2 are correct:
Can I just start pouring or do I need to give it another week or so at that 12 psi to carb more?

You know, I've read myself about purging the keg before hooking up to CO2.

I'd suggest hook it up and test before purging. After purging, I found I needed another week or so to get the carbonation back to where it should've been with the priming alone.

There is a sticky thread in this forum keg force carbing methods illustrated. Did you check to see if that thread answers your questions?

When you say you primed your keg, what do you mean? Are you talking about adding sugar to the keg for natural carbonation, as in bottling? If so, that'll take three weeks minimum, often longer.
