I have a IIPA kit Im making and wanted to try the method of only adding a portion of the LME at the beginning of the boil. Does this only apply to LME? Or DME as well? Should I only add 1/2 the required DME AND LME at the beginning at the rest at flameout?

Generally, one pound of extract per gallon of water, be it DME or LME. I prefer to use DME in the boil for hop additions, LME going in @ flame out. Gives lighter color & cleaner flavor. And LME should be added off the heat, as it sinks straight to the bottom when poured in.
