Due to popular demand in the chat room tonight (and cuz WortMonger threatened to post the idea as his own ) I'm gonna show you how to put a little blackboard on your corny keg(s) so you can write down vital information. What's in it, when was it kegged, etc.
You only need three items:
1 can primer (any cheap brand will do. I prefer white so I can see where I need to re-coat the primer, and then re-coat the chalk board paint)
1 can chalk board paint - I buy the rattle can type, from Home Depot. It was cheaper than the brush on stuff.
1 roll of blue painters tape (you'll use this to protect what you don't want painted)
(and some homebrew)
Mask off as large an area as you like. Try to go pretty big. I made rectangles, but you might just want to do a 360 degree strip around the keg, 6-8" tall. Hindsight being 20/20 I should've done that.
Since spray paint tends to overspray easily, tape off a lot of extra area, or tape some paper around the edges so you don't muck up the whole keg.
Apply a couple coats of primer. Don't need to be perfectly even, just covered. The trick to using rattle can paint is lots of light coats = no drips/runs in the paint.
Once the primer is good per the label instructions, start doing light coats of the chalkboard paint. 4-5 light coats should get you a nice uniform surface with no drips. 30 mins between coats.
Then it has to cure a full day. Carefully remove the tape, then apply a light coat of chalk, wipe off, and its ready to write on.
