It uses the little co2 carts you buy for air rifles. IMHO they would quickly become very expensive. I can refill my 10# co2 bottle for $24, and that has lasted just under a year. If you like that size keg, you can purchase mini kegs with ball lock fittings to use in a smaller space, or to offer more options on tap. What appeals to you about this system?
 
They have been around a while with the first versions at least being just a lquid QD with a schrader valve and a re-brand bike tire inflator. If you are going to drink the keg relatively quickly and/or do not mind a little inconsistency in the carbonation level or foaming it is an OK solution. The cartridges add up quick, though.
 
Thanks, I had no idea a 10# tank would last that long. Space is at a premium so I was attracted to the smaller setup, but I will keep looking
