After looking at my pumpkin ale that im trying to have ready for fall (in clearing stage) I noticed a large blob thing floating on top of the beer. Its also sort of dripping from itself to the bottom of the carboy. There is also this same substance in the bottom trub. Its not mold, been there and done that. But it does resemble pumpkin bits, the nasty stuff nobody wants to touch after carving a jackolantern.
Now, I didnt use real squash - just stuff from a can and I also put it in the mash, not the boil. So it cant be whole bits of pumpkin remnants, or at least I dont think since I put it in the mash. I also made a spice tea for the secondary consisting of pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon boiled in a cup of water - maybe this has coagulated?
Im not asking necessarily if its a problem, because I dont think it is - I just want to know what the hell it is and maybe fellow pumpkin ale brewers have had this said "issue."
