I am going to brew the Brewer's Best Pumpkin Porter tomorrow and I was wondering if anyone has brewed or tasted it? I have looked for reviews but seem to be coming up a little short.
I am also planning on using some fresh toasted pumpkin in the boil to enhance the brew just a little bit. I also seen some recipes with vanilla in them. Would it be worth it to go to the store to get some to add the brew?
Any and all advice or links to recipes would be great and appreciated!

I just got done making my own Pumpkin Porter. Turned out amazing! I have never used Brewers best, but I have heard it is good. The only thing That I could tell you is to use whole Nutmeg and whole cinnamon. Makes a big difference in a Pumpkin brew. You dont want to under power the pumpkin flavor or just over power the spices.

Also I strained out the pumpkin going into the primary after the boil. Everything turned out as I wanted. Nice balanced taste.

Cool that is encouraging but the kit came with 2.5 oz or pumpkin pie spice. That seems like a little much to me. What was the total amount of spices you used?

I recently made a pumpkin spiced ale that can be found in another thread. I used 1/2 tsp of nutmeg, 1 tsp vanilla, 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp all spice with 10 minutes left in the boil. I just racked it into a corny keg for conditioning and added another 1 tsp cinnamon and 1 tsp all spice. When did it tell you to add the pumpkin pie spice?
