OK, I'm going to get a 6.5 gallon glass carboy and rid myself of the plastic buckey. Can someone give me the set-up for a blow-off so I get it right?!!!

Easy. Measure the inside diameter of the thinnest part of the carboy neck. Then go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy clear vinyl tubing that is SLIGHTLY bigger. You can go with about 4 feet (they sell it by the foot). If you measured correctly, it should slide right into the neck and provide a seal. Then you run the other end into a bucket with sanitizing solution in it. You can kind of see it right here:

Does the tube have to go all the way into the liquid? Or since it is airtight, will the blowoff material be pushed through the tube anyway?

You do NOT want the tube to touch the wort. it should be in far enough to provide a good seal and that is it.

Cheers

Thanks! It's the little things technique-wise that make things eaiser and better.
