priming sugar lets you use a specific amount to get a certain carbonation level. but you have to measure and boil it, and rack your beer on to it. tabs are easy and you just drop em in the bottle. but you can't get specific carb levels. so it's up to you, and what is more important to you.

What hogarthe said. I'm a keg/force carb guy I use carb drops when I want to bottle a small portion of my batch at the time of kegging.

Batch prime. Dissolving 3-4 oz of sugar in a cup or 2 of water is easy just bring to a boil and stir it real good.
With my luck I would get distracted and skip a bottle or 3 and dubble up on a few bottles if I used tabs.

Ive heard people say that sometimes the tablets dont dissolve completely. Ive never used them but read a lot of complaints about them.

I've posted this before, but I just don't see the fascination with carb tabs/drops. So many complaints about them.

Why not just batch prime with table sugar? If you're not looking for flavor additions (like, say, maple syrup), you can buy a five pound bag of table sugar for exponentially less than any other priming method. You measure up 1/2 - 2/3 of a cup for a 5 gallon batch (depending on exactly how much carb you want... check the link in my sig for a great priming sugar calculator), boil it all for a couple minutes in a cup or two of water, dump it in the bottling bucket, rack the beer on top.

It's that easy. It works 100% of the time. You can carb specifically to style if you want. You get zero residue or flavor contribution.
