Hey guys. Myself and a few buddies brewed our first batch today. American IPA. So during the boil we added the priming sugar/dextrose during the boil. Obviously this was incorrect. Was wondering if A.) is this going to give an off taste to the beer and B.) will we have to get more priming sugar/dextrose in order to reach the correct carbonation level? Stupid newbie mistake. Was thinking of the priming sugar/dextrose more along the lines of sucrose so it would add a higher alcohol content. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Basically, you upped the gravity a bit, which should result in a bit higher ABV.

You really shouldn't see any real flavor difference, and yes, you need to get more priming sugar for when you bottle.

You will probably just get a thinner and higher abv beer. Since the amount of priming sugar is relatively small the difference should not be too great. I would bet that the beer will be quite good even with this mistake.

Yes, you will need to get some more priming sugar. There are many you can use including plain table (cane) sugar.
