Whats the best method for preparing fresh sassafras to use in making root beer and for storage for later use?
 
If you dug it yourself, scrub all the dirt off and chop it into manageable pieces. Steep with the other roots and herbs in your recipe. That's really about it.
 
I decided to just freeze it for now. If I was to use it in a recipe how would I get a measurement? Should I chop it up and measure it that way?
