I’m a senior and want to make root beer like I remember as a kind some 60+ years ago. I’ve gathered my ingredients including sassafras root, and yes, I know about the carcinogenic effect. Anyway, I plan on carbonating it with forced carbonation from a CO2 tank. Anyone know of a successful recipe for brewing the ingredients that tastes “the best”? I know that’s kind of subjective but I’d be interested in learning from those who have made it and methods involved. Thoughts? Thanks!

Years ago I tried making rootbeer for a gentleman who had a concession trailer for festivals. We never really came up with a recipe that worked. It tasted pretty good, not spectacular, but getting the carbonation right with the CO2 tank was hit or miss, very inconsistent. Good luck, I hope somebody here has some good advice, I'm a big fan of rootbeer. I could also tell you the hallucinogenic effects of fresh sassafras root, but that's story for a different day.
