Ugh. Will have a house full of in-laws that day. Depending on timing/availability, that could put me into autodraft territory.

I do agree it should be set in stone, and soon. But wondering what some of you might think about doing it Monday Aug 26 in the evening instead? Not sure if that works better or worse for folks to make it not during the weekend where family stuff might interfere?

A full house of in-laws? Sounds like a good time to draft a team

According to the NFL.COM website...
  • Live Draft: Your draft is on Sunday, Aug 25, 2024 at 8:00pm EDT.
I am okay with this.

I actually like my in-laws. More than my own blood family, most of the time 😂

Either way, we had not set the time of that event and so we set it early in the day, and we're hoping to have them all out of the house by 5 PT but either way I'm going to be on the draft live.

A few questions:
  • Do we have 12 confirmed teams yet?
  • Are we going to preset the randomized draft order in advance like we did last year? I *hate* going into a draft not knowing until 30 or 60 minutes before the draft what my slot is.
  • Are we looking at any changes to the format? I think one of the big ones I asked for (additional WR) was added last year, so I don't think I've got any requests. But if there are any, we should hammer them out before draft day of course.

Still waiting for confirmations. I’ll send some messages, I’d rather have everything here for transparency but the season is sneaking up on us.

I believe it only randomizes prior to the draft start. I would have to create and submit an order manually. If we have enough interest that can be done. It does help those of us who aren’t prepared be able to somewhat compete. Lol. You posted that you started to plan and realize which players changed teams. I don’t get that feeling until draft day!

The only lingering request every so often is for a new platform. NFL.com isn’t perfect, but is improving, and is simple to keep this league together each year.

I’ll run it back. My only request is if this draft day/time is solid then no last minute changes. I think the time of the draft was changed at the last minute last year

I'd venture to say that even as the guy who floated the idea of a change, if we're already at Wednesday and nobody is pushing for a change, we should be locked in stone now. I'll be there and see you all.

I do still wish we'd get a draft order in advance though.

I'm not pushing for any changes. Let's roll.

Personally, I don't need an advanced draft order. It can be a hassle for the commish, since he would need to go to a random list generator and enter the results on nfl.com, and for those that have not committed yet may not agree with the draft order and decide that they don't want to play, then we would need to come up with a solution.

Yes, it would be good to prepare better if we knew what our pick was, but we would all be on equal ground if we did not know until 30 minutes before the draft (if that makes any sense)

Is there a way to easily share the rules/buy in/payout? If not, no worries.
The rules can be found on the league's website..
https://fantasy.nfl.com/league/5352952/settings

There isn't a 'buy in' but if you are in 3rd through last place, you need to ship beer.

With the payout, noting is really set in stone but I believe that the minimum is a 22 oz. bomber of commercial beer.
Most of us would send about 6-8 singles of different sizes (i.e. 16 oz., an occasional bomber, 12oz cans, etc...)

As @betarhoalphadelta pointed out in post# 807...
  • 9 players ship beer to the champion
  • 1 player ships beer to the runner-up
  • 3rd place consolation playoff game, the winner decides who they are to ship to, and 4th place ships to the other--this allows for the winner to potentially save on shipping costs
