Dinner for a group (10) in Portland on a Saturday upcoming. Grace or Sur Lie? Any other options you think might be good for a group that size of people that like good food (and drink beer)?

Excited to be visiting Portland starting tomorrow for my honeymoon! I'll be bringing some left over Toppling Goliath bottles from the wedding to share, any good breweries/bars/bottle shops in town that are cool with out of town travelers swinging by to share beer? I used to work at a little craft beer store here in Omaha and people were ALWAYS stopping by to share stuff from out of town. As well, if any of you Portland Talk Beer guys would like to meet up for a beer, we'd love to chat with a local. Cheers!

*edit-this thread has been an a great resource in planning this trip. thanks to all that have posted.

Congrats man! I'd normally be up to meet for a beer but have a 5 day old now soooooo...

Not sure about sharing a beer at a store (beer laws here's are getting better but aren't great; for example, breweries can only fill their own growlers), but Greg at Bier Cellar is pretty cool. If there's someone who would, it'd be him.

Thinking about this more, Novare Res if Shahin is there is a better bet to possibly share a bottle

Thanks for the suggestions! So far people seem apprehensive, but I completely understand.

The bartender at Oxbow told us about a seafood restaurant where fishermen go after work to drink whiskey, that might just be the place if any!

Portland was pretty fun. Best IPAs of the trip were at Battery Steele and Bissell Brothers.

Favorite brewery to visit was Battery Steele. No lines or people, just two solid IPAs, really good country playing and the brewing equipment.

Best food is a little tougher, the deli meats at Charcuterie in Unity were outstanding as was their cider. The chicken sandwich next to Bissell was awesome.

For those visiting check out all the above!^

Leaving tomorrow morning to visit for a day. I will make sure to check out Battery Steele. Thanks for the heads up.

Will be in Portland a week from today. Really, really looking forward to it.

Will be my first time visiting in a few years. Looks like we'll have some awesome fall weather, too. Can't wait!

You guys are making me sad (that I can't spend every day visiting the ocean and a different brewery) and jealous. Lastly, check out Bier Cellar. Great little beer shop with all the super fresh local IPAs in stock. Plus Fantome and 225 in stock.

The Pinch Cider at Charcuterie is produced by none other than GODFROMANAL. The real deal.

Fruited Fridays are back and this list is killer. Saison Rosé (kicked 25 min into their fest this year) is excellent but one of my favorite beers of the year is Punch Brook with all its delicious jammy funk. First Fruits is always great. The FF standout for me was Meemah.

Apart from the fact that Greg f'ed it up the draft list yet again, its actually MeeMaw. We gave him lots of **** about that one, he did something similar and mislisted Queens Order at the Jester King event. Always fun to gently make fun of him.
We preferred first Fruits on Friday but what a line up, we stayed for about 4 hours just chilling and trying every beer at least once.
Novare was still pouring FF too from the Thursday and had FF bottles too if you asked.

Have a Bissell question for everybody. I'm headed up to see my in laws for Christmas so I'll be in town the holiday week before New Year's. Based on Bissell's Facebook page and their release graphic, it appears they don't have Substance available every day, and they only release it on certain days now. In my last few previous trips up, they've had it every day in addition to whatever else they were releasing that day. Did they in fact change it or am I misreading it?

They will have a ton of it on release day, and will almost certainly have stock left for the next day (possibly two)

Should be Substance everyday unless specifically stated otherwise. Somedays they have just Substance as well.

Follow them on Twitter or Instagram, they pretty much always post case counts before they open each day.

Very depressed Infinite Darkness is bourbon this time rather than apple brandy. Very depressed. I wonder if they lost a batch; it’s been a long time since this was released and I’ve definitely seen apple brandy barrels with beer in them at B&B.
