Nice man!

Yeah it's called Rhum. Super new so I haven't gone yet but the owner does good stuff at his other places in town.

:)
My girlfriend's cousin Andrew Volk and his wife are the proprietors of that business. Always glad to see anyone showing support, thanks!!

Reservations made for Opus Ten and Fore Street! Hoping to walk in at Central Provisions or Street and Co Friday night. Even Tide will happen at some point. Would love to hit Duckfat for a milkshake (right? And fries I guess?)

Rhum, Hunt and Alpine, and Novare Res are all on the docket as well as the usual breweries. Thanks for the help guys!

I would definitely go Central Prov over Street & Co, personally. Central only does walk ins (no res) with usually about an hour wait. You get on the list and they text you when it's your turn. Many bars close by to wait at.

Even Tide: yes.

Duckfat: yes.

Have a splendid time!

David's Opus Ten is definitely happening. Hunt and Alpine also sounds great. Fiance loves kitschy **** and I heard there's some tiki bar that just opened up. Any good?
Rhum is "meh" in my book. Drinks are decent but pricey IMO. Same with food. Taps are legit though. Probably a fun spot for the younger crowd but I'm full-on old man status now.

I agree with everything else that JBPortland said. Should the stars align, I'd be down for some potential tip-touching

If the bar has good theming, that's honestly good enough. We're not going to stay there for super long, but we'll probably pop in for a drink or two Friday night.

Is there a website that lists the current beer lists/menus that are available at bars in the area. It looks like "beermenus" isn't used up there that often so I'm hoping for something similar. Philadelphia has "phillytap finder" which is great so I'm looking for something like that. A place where the bars update often and that is accurate.
Thanks

Not really. Novare's online taplist page is the only one I know of. Not their bottles page though, that hasn't been updated since opening day.

The Kings Head usually updates their taplist daily - http://www.thekingsheadportland.com/draft-list

I'm headed to Portland this weekend so I found this thread just in the nick of time!

I saw some of the recommendations in previous pages on this thread, so thanks everyone for the feedback. Two quick questions:

1. Which would you prefer: Novare or Great Lost Bear? The former is walking distance to my hotel so I figured I'd ask.
2. Does Liquid Riot only have its own beer on draft? I seemed to have found an article (a bit dated) that specified it had both its beer and local taps. However, a scan of the Web page only shows it only having its own beer on draft.

P.S. GuzzleMcBrew - I definitely plan on hitting up Hunt & Alpine late night. It looks like a great spot.

Novare is a great bar, and you can't beat having a world-class establishment in stumbling distance. I don't recall eating there though.

However, if you have plans to stop by Allagash, Foundation, and/or Austin Street, you can easily check out GLB for lunch or a quick beer and snack. I remember really enjoying this BBQ jar thing they had, with like, layers of pulled pork and coleslaw and stuff. That with a Substance on draft definitely hit the spot.

Bier Cellar is right down the street too, so that helps.

Novare is far superior, but food options are somewhat limited. GLB is worth hitting up if you head out to Industrial Way though as seedavid mentioned.

Liquid Riot has mostly their own stuff, but usually a couple of guest taps. They have been making some pretty good beers lately, definitely worth checking out.

Also check out the made in house bourbons/whiskeys at liquid riot, I was very impressed.

if anyone who going to the dinner release wants to trade a couple bottles i should be coming up with some tired hand cans,
whatever is available the week of, id like to get 2-3 bottles to take home let me know if its possible

Somebody on the other site asking if Maine Beer Co would be cool with them sleeping in their car in the parking lot the night before the Dinner release...

Dear lord

I don't get it. Isn't there enough good IPA nowadays that this sorta thing isn't necessary? You can walk in to Trillium and leave with enough bottles to throw your back out. Is Dinner that unique?

I don't either, but I do get that New England as a whole is crazily obsessed with IPAs right now and aquiring said IPAs often comes at the expense of logic and common sense. I's a very good beer but not even close being worth multiple hours driving (for some), hours in line, and a $32 4-pack. That price to me is the most insane part. Nobody even bats an eye!

I have been chugging shelf Firestone Walker Luponic and Lagunitas Waldos for the past few months, and couldn't be happier.

Any Maine people have any recommendations for stuff that's not Portland? Looking to hit a B&B/hotel for a weekend with my lady in July and looking for somewhere dare I say quaint, perhaps in proximity to a state park or some nature/hiking stuff and nearby to at least one decent brewery. Thoughts?

GF and I stayed at the Brunswick Hotel & Tavern a few years ago and enjoyed a lot (I am generally a big fan of Brunswick - you are in reasonable range of Popham Beach/Morse Mountain, and it's a cute little town). That being said, that was back in the days when Lion's Pride was still an enjoyable place to go to, rather than Chris Lively's Brewery and Restaurant, or whatever it's called now, which I don't really enjoy at all.

I lived in Bath for a couple of summers and really loved it; not sure what the lodging options are but there you're even closer to Morse Mountain/Popham Beach and like a ~35 minute drive from Oxbow Newcastle.
