I just acquired some used kegs and am a little confused since this is my first time using kegs. I have search HBT to help me but have ran into a roadblock. The kegs are Firestone Spartanburg (according to stamp on bottom ) I need some poppet valves but the pictures I have found on here say that the poppet's I took out of my kegs are made by cornelius so I am a little confused, I have attached a pic of the parts from MY kegs( the first 2) and a pic from another site, and according to that picture, I have POP-C but that is a corneluis part and

"This poppet fits Cornelius models:
Spartan - Super Champion - R model"

Anyone with a little more knowledge on this, your help is much appreciated.. Cheers

I do believe some poppets re interchangeable ie: firestone and Cornelius

if you say you have "Firestone-Spartanburg" and the poppet you want fits
"This poppet fits Cornelius models:
Spartan - Super Champion - R model"

than you have a spartan match no?

Man am I ever confused, after looking on an online supply store, they show 3 different ones.. 1. Cornelius 2. Firestone 3. Spartanburg.... why does my keg say Firestone Spartanburg ?????? It seems like Firestone;s are made in Spartanburg SC, but is there also a seperate company, Spartanburg that makes kegs??? like you said maybe the parts are somewhat interchangable, the poppets in my kegs all match pictures for a Cornelius style poppet but thats not what my keg is. Maybe somewhere down the line it got converted to different stems, I am not sure

I would take a better picture with the poppet next to a ruler to see the size. I would send an email with it to chicompany.com they should have the right replacement part.

Don't mind me, just resurrecting a not terribly old thread...

I got the same dilemma. My keg sounds exactly like yours in terms of how it's marked and branded, but i got a different poppet. The poppet leaks co2 if i pop disconnect off, but i'm thinking with everything hooked up and the keg being pressurized I should be fine once I sort out a leaking swivel nut coming off my regulator, and yes I got one of the little washers inside of it.

It's a ****ty cell phone shot, but you get the idea. That brown circle up front is a penny for scale.
Here's the pressure relief valve:

I have found some replacement parts here: http://www.williamsbrewing.com/Search.aspx?k=firestone but that still begs the question of what keg I got. The bottom just says "FIRESTONE STEEL PRODUCTS SPARTANBURG, SOUTH CAROLINA" And there is a "Pepsi-cola bottling co Lincoln, Nebraska on the side of the keg.

Any help on this would be awesome, thanks in advance.

I sorted this out a few days ago, whoever had this keg before me probably replaced one of the poppets. Besides the one pictured There was a standard firestone in the other post. I had a couple Cornelius style poppets lying around and made a stainless steel spacer to fill the gap between the poppet and the polyurethane piece. So far so good no leaks yet.
