I'd love to get my hands on one of those beautiful old fridges that last forever and restore it. I'd resist the urge to turn it into a kegerator and just keep it full of bottled beer.

Man just thinking about it I'd brew up a vintage recipe pale lager and bottle it with some custom old-timey labels. I think I have a new project!!

I think I can post this here without judgement...1 large fridge/freezer for the family, 1 lagering freezer with an Inkbird to keep it at 34 degrees, 1 kegerator, 2 freezer fermentation chambers (small), 1 large refrigerator for fermentation (conical), 1 hop freezer, 1 outdoor refrigerator that my wife will not let me use as a ferm chamber, 1 upstairs (never used, but kept cold), 1 small hop freezer, 1 small pantry built in fridge that doubles as a yeast bank. That. Is. It. 11...
Damn! You’ve got me by one.

Here’s my ferm fridge, a 1949 Hotpoint. I thought about restoring it, cosmetically, but decided that the patina was cooler.

Well she's so pretty she don't need a thing!! Super jealous!

This might be a bit personal, but could you post a pic of the interior? For research purposes of course....

Here ya go. I put the empty fermenter in to show that it will hold 2 bucket or Better Bottle size vessels. The small shelf next to the freezer compartment can be easily removed for a little extra height on that side. With the shelf removed the interior dimensions are about 22” wide X 15” deep X 30” to the bottom of the freezer.

Gorgeous, and super useful dimensions for homebrewing. What I wouldn't give to drop a batch in there.. I need to change my pants.

I'm on OfferUp app looking at vintage and antique refrigerators locally, a lot of potentials out there and asking quite a bit less than last time I looked a couple years back... This just might happen for me after all.

My current ferm chamber, that Rockstar fridge with inkbird controller,, pretty much going commando. Would rather use it to serve a single keg in my living room.

Holy crap what a mess, that was in the middle of me reconfiguring my biab brew stand and rearranging a bunch of gear. Other than the pepto pink it's usually not that ridiculous.

so you're the drug dealer that this guy has on speed dial, being it looks like your 'column' is going straight into a rockstar! 🤣

4 Fridges
1 Freezer
1 Keggerator
1 Twelve Volt Mini fridge on the pontoon. (Holds 24 bottles or cans)

7 mini refrigerators in the garage set at different useful temps plus 1 full size in the kitchen.

4 mini refrigerators at my company for food and beer storage, located warehouse, office, and two of them for my secret beer stash in the computer server room. Gives a whole new meaning to the word server. I’m the boss.

2 useful minis I have in storage on a pallet.

Now up to 6... My fermentation fridge had turned into a "freezer overload" fridge, meaning that it was unusable for fermentation as the Ranco can't keep it at fermentation temp while the freezer... Freezes.

So my wife and I complete reconfigured the garage last weekend, and I just bought a smallish (11 cf) upright freezer from Costco to ensure that I have enough freezer space.

My fridges/freezers:

  • Main fridge (kitchen). Self explanatory.
  • Kegerator (kitchen). Sadly a problem because it hasn't had kegs of homebrew in it for a long while. But it's an upright ~21 cf convertible fridge/freezer used as a six-tap kegerator that also has excess space for other beer / wine / whatever we need in the kitchen storage.
  • Wine fridge (kitchen). Self explanatory. Dual-zone 155-bottle wine fridge that ensures that we keep all of our white and red at optimal storage (and serving) temp.
  • Spare fridge (garage). Used for anything that exceeds the capacity of the kitchen fridge, cold storage of canned beer, most of our frozen meat, etc.
  • Fermentation fridge (garage). Supposed to be dedicated to fermentation of beer. But as stated above, because the biggest limitation in our fridge/freezer space is freezer, it's been used primarily as a freezer. Basically holds most of the frozen foods / frozen pizza / etc that we have for kids' lunches and "frozen pizza night" when we don't want to cook.
  • New upright freezer (garage). Basically added to increase freezer space but not be a chest freezer (due to limited footprint) to augment our freezer space such that I can turn the fermentation fridge back into a fermentation fridge, as I no longer need to care about its freezer capacity.

Is this why the electric company keeps sending me info on how to reduce my consumption?

Let's see...
Kitchen fridge (food)
Deep freezer (food)
Second fridge / freezer (hops, curing bacon, overflow)
Small beer fridge
Keezer
Lagering fridge (chest freezer with Inkbird)
Fermentation chamber (dorm fridge with insulated extension)
Glycol chiller

I never actually counted these before... I didn't realize how many units I've got now . 😄

Guess I'll update mine, the kitchen has a fridge and a keezer, garage freezer, basement has a beer and hops fridge, a keezer and a glycol chiller that handles 2 15gal conicals and a 25gal conical. The kids now have little fridges in their rooms (effin horrible idea) but they are like the size of like a playmate cooler so I'll count the pair of them as 1, which brings me to 7. .. 8 is my favorite number (Cal Ripken Jr. Fan) so I think I need one more... hmmm.
