I have half a pound of Polaris, and will shortly be brewing a red IPA using Polaris as the primary hop. Polaris is a relatively new ultra high alpha hop like Summit, with an interesting flavor profile if descriptions count for anything. I will be using Polaris for bittering and late in the boil, using it along with Amarillo in whirlpool, and dry hopping with Polaris. Below is a description of Polaris, and a proposed recipe.........
Comments please. Does Amarillo seem like a suitable "mate"? I'm considering slipping some Nugget in with the 5 minute addition and moving it closer to the end of the boil.
Polaris, with its fruity and refreshing hint of Polaris is best suited specifically when used to achieve sensory
“Glacier Mints” effect, is very convincing. differentiation of top fermenting, dark and speciality beers.
Polaris is suited for use in top and bottom Recommend usage:
fermenting beers. The special fresh and fruity
characteristic can be individually adjusted to
the existing taste profile of the beer.
Polaris brewed beers are very impressive by
their quality of bitterness, and the enhanced
aroma profile. The special fruitiness of this
Hops can be worked out by dry-hopping.
3 gallon brew
OG 1.063
ABV 6.9%
IBU 52
SRM 18.65
3 pounds each 2 row and Munich 10
1/4 pound CR60
