Pliny hands down.

Every Heady Topper I've had (while I love cans) was mistreated and tasted like metal/hops faded like they sat in the sun too long. So while I've had both and still say Pliny. I'll reserve my final judgement until I taste it fresh just canned.

But I still have a hunch I'd go Pliny. Heck, Double Sunshine & Kern Citra should be in this discussion too, I actually think those two are at the same level if not above HT & Pliny.

Weird, I always thought April came before October....

Who the hell is voting for Pliny???
I did.

Here's some interesting info on HT I got from watching a video from the head brewer:

They don't dump the hops from the beer after dry hopping. Furthermore, they inject CO2 into the fermenter in order to resuspend everything before they can it. Why? Who the hell knows. Maybe in an effort to increase the yield from each batch. In my experience, leaving hops around too long leads to a grassy, vegetal flavor in the finished product. Not to mention all of the floaties. That's the main reason why they suggest drinking it from the can. Because otherwise it looks like garbage. If I wanted floaties in my beer I'd drink Mongo or a 5 year old bottle of Unibroue.

Also, they must be getting a good bit of dissolved oxygen into the can during packaging. If you watch the video (at about 5:10) you can see an 8-month old can that he pours into a glass. Note the difference in color between the fresh can and the old can. The darker color is indicative of heavy oxidation (turning the beer brown), which is most likely due to the DO pickup during canning.

I think HT is a fine beer, and I'd only score Pliny just a bit above Heady. Neither of them hold a candle to Societe's Roustabout or Alpine's Bad Boy though.

I mean, I wouldn't kick either out of bed but if I had to choose one it would be Heady. But they are so different in hop profile I don't really know why they are compared.
