Hello everyone. This will be my first crack at creating a beer and brewing it. Any suggestions would be awesome. I'm trying to brew a light beer for my wife to drink. She doesn't like hoppy beers. I am limited to a 4 gallon kettle for now. Everything looked ok on the software. But again, my first time.

Whats not in the pic were notes I made for the boil process.

I planned on 60 min boil with the addition of cascade hops at 60 and 30 mins. Whirlfloc tablet. Not sure if my malt selection would be correct for an american light beer.

Looking at the recipe, I would suggest that you reduce the amount of crystal malt. I generally try to limit it to less than 10%, and most often only around 5% to 8% for most recipes. I think you will have something that will be cloyingly sweet with that much C-20. You also should target your base malt for at least 80% of the grist to start. Once you have a handle on how to use the specialty malts to your advantage, you can cheat downwards a bit, but staring off you want to make sure you have enough malts with enzymatic strength to convert your torrified wheat

Your equipment profile is set for an extract batch, make sure that it has enough room for your wort from the mash to fit.

If you look at the slider for the color you will see you are not in the range for an amber ale. It is a pale ale and will be even lighter when you decrease the crystal. I would set the style to
American Pale Ale and see what changes happen with the sliders.

What I don't see is how much you plan to get when finished. With a 4 gallon pot you will be looking at about 2 gallons when done.

I have been moving my late additions of hops to 15 minutes or later and often with flameout or hopstand additions. It adds more flavor and aroma. You can keep the additions small so the hop flavor is more subdued. I go the other way. I like a lot of hop flavor.

Another thing I see is that it is predicting a preboil gravity of 1.070. That is impossible if the OG is predicted far less. I don't know what setting is throwing things off but you need to look at things, probably the equipment profile. Something is not right. Probably that the profile for the 4 gallon pot is for extract but you are doing all grain.

Good advice above.
I'd recommend you start every recipe be selecting the proper style you're attempting to brew (that's the pull down below the ingredients) That changes the scales for the color, bitterness, ABV, etc., and helps you zone in on those important style parameters.

I suspect when you select the "American Light Lager" style, all your sliders will be too high. Check it out.
