I was rearranging my fridge just now, and my bottle of fruit punch toppled over slightly, knocking over my bottle of Left Hand Widdershins 2007 which fell down out of the fridge. I watched it in slow-mo in terror as it got closer to the ground. Then it happened.....it collided with my bottle of Rouge Old Crustacean 2008 and it shattered the bottle of Rouge. :(:(:(:( I yelled out in pain "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" so loud that I'm sure every neighbor with in 100 feet heard me loud and clear. I quickly decided to get one last sip in, and went as far as licking some off of the floor. Thankfully I had cleaned it the previous day.

But alas, my precious bottle of Old Crustacean is no longer with me. You will be missed you wonderful Barleywine.

Now I have to drive back to DFW just to get another bottle for $20.

My condolences, sir. As the Big Lebowski said to the Dude, "The bums lost..."

Sir I truely feel for you... I will not hijack this thread but I would like you to understand that I UNDERSTAND your grief....

I was given a bottle of the allusive DFH 120 IPA as a gift last september or so... Now living in Ohio, you cant buy it here so it makes it even that much harder to find.... as a matter of fact it was the ONLY bottle I have even actually seen.... I carefully cellered it away for a special occasion.... and this new years I figured would be perfect...... SO when getting ready for the party I grabbed a 4 carrier went to the celler and grabbed the 120 and a Goose island Matilda(another VERY good beer if anyone has had a chance to try it...) and two of my 11% barlywines I brewed a few years ago.... pick up the carrier... make it oh... maybe 4 steps and the one of the sides lets go.... it couldnt have been my barlywines or the Matilda... no it was the 120..... I also watched in slow motion as it hit the floor and exploded.... I seriously considered sucking it up right off the dirty 70 year old celler floor and was on my hands and knees before I realized it.... I settled for a small slurp out of what was left of the bottom of the bottle.....

I wanted to cry

I still have not cleaned up the broken bottle... it lays there as a sacrifice....

I saw pics here - some clever HB'ers are building dovetailed 6'ers out of oak! 12's & 24's as well. Some guys are awesome with their skills.
