Please help me recondition my keezer

Just bought a used keezer on craigslist for dirt cheap and there was a pretty good reason it was dirt cheap.

Originally I wanted to build a collar, but since the holes are already drilled on the top I'll just continue from there. I'm going to be getting a new tower, possibly a 3 tap. Currently its a 2 tap. The only modification I'd need to do is drill one more hole for the tubing, correct?

The rust stains in the inside are what I definitely need to focus on first. Whats a good plan of attack on this? Can the inside be painted? It holds the cold well, so as of right now I don't think there are any leaks. I will test for that after I recondition it though. Any insight?

I cant comment on the other stuff because the tower looks good from here. As for the rust- your going to need to sand down the rust and i would paint first with rustoleum primer and then whatever color paint you want this thing. Theres also no reason you cant leave it the way it is. The inside no one will ever see and therefor i wouldn't waste your time with it. The outside you can always paint or retouch.

Make sure this holds temperature before you sink in a bunch of time!!

+1 on Rustoleum & sanding. I think the directions say you can paint over rust but to get a nice finish sand is best.

I would use it with the tower it came with until you run it for a few months to make sure it does not die on you.

Thanks guys I will definitely do that, after testing to see if the freezer holds it's cold. One recommendation I saw on how to do that was put a light inside. Any better methods you like to test the freezer for that?

the tower is broken, I will stick to the two tap since it's already drilled.

Getting rid of the rust is for my own personal sanity.
