Did you check for conversion before you attempted to control the mash temp by adding heat? I think for many of us the conversion happens pretty quickly and the need to add heat just isn't there. If you have a refractometer, stir the mash well about 10 minutes into the time and then check the gravity. Check it again at 15 to see if it has changed, making sure to stir well before taking the sample.![]()
Oh yeah, I am sure I am over complicating it for sure. I will pull some samples along the way on the next brew day if I dont have a refractometer by then.
But come on man, seriously though, you are messing with my vision of this thing with all the bells and whistles.
I started out thinking I was going to build a simple system, like the some of you guys. But that's not my style I guess.
