Sure are. I only use glass but I use a few soda bottles as test bottles for each batch.
My very first batch of cider last year I just the plastic coke bottles for the entire batch just to be safe. Still have a few left.
 
I use plastic PET bottles for most of my cider. But if I want to keep it for longer than 6 months, then I bulk age it in glass.
That said, I rarely carb my ciders. but I have done so in PET with no problems. And it's safer - no danger from flying glass if you get it wrong!
 
Cider will slowly oxidise in PET so it isn't really a good idea. I would say 2 months max before there is noticeable deterioration.
